Palworld save backup location: back up before fixing crashes

Short answer: make a copy of the save or server world before removing mods, repairing files, reinstalling, or changing server settings. Do not delete a save to test a fix.

Safe backup checklist

  1. Close the game or stop the server cleanly.
  2. Copy the current save or world folder to another location.
  3. Name the backup with the date and the action you are about to test.
  4. Do the risky action on the live copy only after the backup exists.
  5. Stop here if the game works after the first change.
